Carlos SantanaCarlos Augusto Alves Santana ( Autlan de Navarro , Jalisco , Mexico , July 20 of 1947 ) is a guitarist Mexican of jazz-rock and Latin rock, multiganador the Grammy . It is considered the 15. second best guitarist of all time , according to the magazine Rolling Stone .

His father was a violinist in a band of mariachi in his native Autlan, Jalisco. De Young, Charles learned to play the violin , but switched to the guitar when he was eight. In 1955 his family moved to Tijuana . Carlos, eight years was devoted to the guitar, studied and emulated the sounds of BB King , T-Bone Walker and John Lee Hooker under the tutelage of Master Javier Batiz .

Meanwhile he played with local bands like The TJ’s in which he played bass, which added its own twist and original sense of the folk songs of rock ‘n roll from the fifties. To keep playing with different sets of travel along “Tijuana Strip,” began to perfect his style and sound.

In 1955 his family moved to Tijuana, Santana began playing in clubs and bars in the tourist area. He remained in Tijuana when his family moved again, this time to San Francisco, California, but soon followed.

In 1966, he helped found the Santana Blues Band, eventually shortened to Santana. The band began playing at the Fillmore West, where many of the great San Francisco bands played. His recording debut occurred on The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper (The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper) with Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield. moved again, this time to San Francisco, California, but soon followed.

After signing with Columbia Records, Santana released an album called Santana. Carlos was born in Autlan, Mexico and at a very young age his father, a mariachi violinist, taught Carlos basic music theory. In the 50’s his parents took the family North to prospering Tijuana. Here is where Carlos became familiar with the sound of American Blues and Rock n’ Roll.

By the 60’s, Carlos’ family had moved to San Francisco, and soon the Santana Blues Band was a fixture of the San Francisco club circuit. They became so popular that they were invited to Woodstock. With his Woodstock performance, Carlos and his blend of Latin laced rock, was embraced by the musical world.
