Jay-ZShawn Corey Carter (born December 4 in 1969 in Brooklyn , New York ), better known as Jay-Z or a variety of nicknames (Jigga, Jay-Hova, Hova, Young Hov, Jigga-Man, P-beach) , is a rapper and current president and CEO of Def Jam , which owns The 40/40 Club, and also owns part of the franchise New Jersey Nets of the NBA .

It was one of the most prolific and successful rappers during the final decade of the 90 and early twentieth century. In a recent list of the MTV collected by critics of hip hop, Jay-Z was ranked as the fourth fastest MC of all time, surpassed only by The Notorious BIG , Tupac Shakur and Rakim . Early life
