The four best friends whom make up the band Destiny’s Child-Beyonce, Kelly, LaTavia and LeToya-have been singing together as a group for the majority of their short lives. Matthew Knowles from Music World Management, also the band’s executive producer, has helped the girls build quite a following of supportive fans in their hometown of Houston, Texas. They enjoyed the diverse audiences that they were able to perform for-running the gamut as opening acts for R & B and hip-hop artists such as Immature, Dru Hill, Das EFX and SWV, before sparking their own contract with Columbia Records.
Their first single, “No, No, No” (remixed by Wyclef Jean), spearheaded a year filled with traveling abroad, fancy hotels and packed concerts. In the US, the girls toured as the opening act for Boyz II Men. They managed to pack in 18 shows during the 17 work-filled days on their last European visit. While Destiny’s Child was recording their new album, they also collaborated with R. Kelly on the song “Stimulate Me” form the “Life” soundtrack and made their acting debut on the WB’s “Smart Guy” sitcom. Destiny’s Child has been compared to the likes of The Supremes, The Emotions and En Vogue. However, the girls have proven themselves one-of-a-kind and they feel that they are only getting started.
