Pink Floyd – British progressive / psychedelic rock band formed in Cambridge. Famous for its psychedelic songs, and grandiose show. Is one of the most successful in rock and pop music, is in seventh place in the world in the number of sold albums (more than 300 million copies worldwide). It was founded in 1965, the last album and the tour took place in 1994. Last show – July 2005.

* Richard Wright (born Richard Wright) – keyboards, vocals (1966-1981, 1987 to September 15, 2008);
* Nick Mason (born Nick Mason) – drummer (1966-present).

Joined later:

* David Gilmour (born David Gilmour) – vocalist, guitarist (from 1968 to present).

Name Pink Floyd formed by the combination of the names of jazz, more rhythm and blues musicians opted Anderson (Pink Anderson) Kauns and Waters Barreto in prophetic dreams, and he insisted on renaming the group. Until then the band changed a lot of names: Sigma 6, T-Set, Meggadeaths, The Screaming Abdabs, The Architectural Abdabs and The Abdabs. Besides first group was called The Pink Floyd Sound, then simply The Pink Floyd and then the definite article «the» was dropped in favor of “sonority”.
